Don’t get scared. I’m only trying to alert you to the passing of time. Soon, it will be summer and you’ll be saying, “what the***l happened? Wasn’t it just Inauguration Day?” Well yes it was, but if you are just plodding through the winter, soon it will be time to throw on a pair of shorts and you’ll either be pleased with your winter’s work or freaking out that shorts season is not too far from swimsuit season.
The reality: You can accomplish something in 14 weeks. You can make it all the way through a 12-week challenge and have two weeks to spare. That is, if you have a challenge in mind. When people train for major events, they start early so that there wont be so much pressure right before the event to achieve the desired outcome. The old addage Solw and Steady Wins the Race is really a good one to follow if you are trying to lose weight. Even if you are trying to build muscle, lean down, or learn a skill; the same principle applies. Change, permanent, meaningful, earned change can’t be achieved overnight.
So, give yourself a break. Start a plan to accomplish something for your health and wellness by Memorial Day. Start on Monday if you want and make it a clean break. Get out your calendar and turn to Memorial Day and then back it up and put your goal markers, rewards, tests, and check ins on the calendar for the receedng 14 wees. Then, stick to your plan.
